Tonight from 9:00pm to 11:00pm the San Francisco Taxi Workers Alliance held a protest action at San Francisco International Airport.
We at the SFTWA believe it is wholly unfair to the permitted and law abiding cab drivers of San Francisco to reward illegal taxicab activity with the privilege of picking up and dropping off paying passengers under rules with a much lighter standard of regulation (or lack thereof).
Therefore we protest the decision of the San Francisco International Airport allowing "TNC's" to operate at SFO.
During this civil protest no passenger will be denied service. All credit cards and destinations accepted without "surge pricing".
Please SFO, do the right thing and send the TNC's home.
Respectfully,
Members
San Francisco Taxi Workers Alliance
(Note to the public: We wanted to pick you up during the protest. We were picking you up. Media reports that we were refusing to pick up passengers are incorrect. There was a brief period at the beginning of the protest where SFO employed taxi starters did not allow taxis to leave the lot or pick up passengers waiting curbside. AT NO POINT DID WE WANT ANY RIDERS TO WAIT AT THE CURB. Had the passengers who used a TNC to leave the airport used a licensed taxi, the congestion from the protest would have been negligible.)
